Overview

Fonte Phoenix Spring, one of the three freshwater springs in Panjim, boasts a public bath and a horseshoe-shaped vaulted tunnel that takes you to the source of fresh water gushing out from the lateritic rock and aquifers at the base of the Altinho hill. Legend has it that there was an underground connection between the Mala and Panjim springs. The tunnel is illuminated and ventilated by three domed towers along the length of the tunnel, leading to the freshwater source. Visitors can explore the tunnel and retrace their steps to the entrance.
