Overview
Nestled atop a steep hillock in Quitol, South Goa, the Betul Lighthouse offers an exceptional viewpoint with tall grasses on one side and the captivating shoreline on the other. Located approximately 20 kilometers from Margao and about 6 kilometers from the Assolna-Cavelossim Bridge, it provides visitors with a panoramic vista encompassing Betul Beach, Quepem, the surrounding villages and the vast expanse of the sea. The lighthouse in Goa proudly stands on the remains of Betul Fort, which was constructed in 1676 under the orders of the illustrious Shivaji Maharaj. It takes the form of an octagonal cylindrical tower constructed from concrete, featuring a lantern and an observation gallery. Its distinctive appearance, marked by red and white spiral bands, ensures that it stands out against the landscape, making it a good subject for photographs. Also, Betul is an unexplored part of Goa and more popular with people who like to travel to offbeat places.
